Tesserae - Game Boy - DE

Quasimodo straps on his faithful hump one last time to rescue his beloved, the ever-endangered Esmeralda, who this time has been kidnapped by a new villain, the dreadful Halfenpounder. You must run, jump and eat fruit (can malnutrition cause a hump? Can nutrition reverse it?) to make your way through a varied series of platforming environments. Along the way, you jump over (and on) rolling logs that briefly stun you if you misjudge your leap, and over spike pits that will skewer you just as surely as in the original, swing from ropes and signal the end of each level by ringing a massive bell specifically placed for that purpose. Since our mate Quasi hails from Paris rather than Krypton and doesn't grow by eating mushrooms, one must conclude that it is the amusing idle animations and hidden bonus levels that earn this game the "Super" accolade.
