Terra was published from 1957 to 1968 as a pulp novel series (approx. 23x15cm) by the Moewig publishing house in Munich, reaching the round number of 555 issues before the series was discontinued. In the German-speaking world, these pulp novels were what the pulps of the first half of the 20th century were in the USA: entertainment literature and an entry point into certain subject areas (here science fiction) for young readers. Today, pulp novels are collected as collector's items, both for their stories and for their cover art. The typical "look" of Terra was shaped above all by Johnny Bruck, who from 1961 also created the visual design for the series Perry Rhodan.
