F-1 Spirit is the first handheld version of Konami's classic MSX top-down racing game. It features three classes of open-wheel racing cars (synchronised as difficulty levels), three game modes (Training, Single Race and Championship) and 25 different tracks around the world, some of which are only playable in the corresponding championship, ranging from Japanese Formula 3 to the World F1 Grand Prix. In each class, the tracks become longer (forcing pit stops), the cars become faster and the corners change from simple, flat-dropping corners that require only a slight curved trajectory, to tight corners that require considerable skill to navigate without losing speed. The controls are simple: use the directional pad to steer the car, press the B button to accelerate, and press the A button to switch between high and low gear.
