Sub-Mariner Annual #1
Comic: Sub-Mariner Annual #1Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: 1971
Condition: Fine/Very Fine, FN/VF, 7.0
Sub-Mariner Annual #1 with exciting stories from the underwater Marvel Universe! The comic issue is in good condition.
The character of Sub-Mariner was created by Bill Everett and first appeared in Marvel Comics #1 in October 1939. Together with Captain America and Human Torch, he was one of the three superheroes who appeared at the then Timely Comics (the predecessor of the Marvel Comics publisher) and fought against the Axis powers on comic pages during World War II. He is a hybrid - half human, half Atlantean - and has the ability to breathe underwater. He became popular again when Jack Kirby and Stan Lee brought him out of the mothballs in 1962 in Fantastic Four #4 and gave him a new lease of life in the Silver Age. After sharing the comic Tales to Astonish with Iron Man in the mid-1960s, he got his own issue in 1968. Gene Colan and John Buscema shaped the Sub-Mariner's visual style in the Silver Age of comics, giving him his now-familiar characteristic look.
