Description

Sub-Mariner #30

Comic: Sub-Mariner #30
Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: October 1970
Condition: Fine Plus, FN+, 6.5

Sub-Mariner #30 by Roy Thomas (story) and Sal Buscema (art), a classic from the tail end of the Silver Age of comics! The issue is in good used condition.

The character Sub-Mariner was created by Bill Everett and first appeared in Marvel Comics #1 in October 1939. Together with Captain America and Human Torch, he was one of the three superheroes who appeared at the then Timely Comics (the predecessor of Marvel Comics) and fought against the Axis powers in the comic pages during World War II. He is half-breed - half human, half Atlantean - and has the ability to breathe underwater. He became popular again when Jack Kirby and Stan Lee brought him back from obscurity in Fantastic Four #4 in 1962 and breathed new life into him in the Silver Age. After sharing the comic Tales to Astonish with Iron Man in the mid-1960s, he got his own title in 1968. Gene Colan and John Buscema visually shaped Sub-Mariner in the Silver Age of comics and gave him his now-familiar characteristic look.
