Roland Garros French Open - Game Boy Color - DE

Roland Garros French Open is the franchise's only appearance on Game Boy Colour. The handheld version is less a serious tennis simulation than other versions, instead offering cartoon-like 2D graphics and quirky venues. Overall, the game features eight different players and twelve different tournaments. Only five players and four tournaments can be selected from the start, with the others unlocked by winning events. The starting tournaments are realistic Grand Slam tournaments: the Roland Garros French Open (the only one with a licence), the English Open (i.e. Wimbledon), the US Championship and the Australian Cup, on sand, grass or hard court. When you win these tournaments, you can play in more unusual venues: from street and beach tournaments to far-flung events in Antarctica or on the Moon. All tournaments are single-elimination, beginning with the quarter-finals. The matches follow the original rules and are played from a standard perspective behind the controlled player. All characters (players, officials and fans) are drawn in a cartoon style with oversized heads. The controls enable a variety of moves, including backhand and forehand shots, volleys and lobs.
