Princess Peach has been kidnapped! Again! Everyone was celebrating the Princess's birthday when a huge birthday cake arrived... but then Bowser Jr. and the seven Koopalings appeared and kidnapped her! Mario, Luigi and two Toads set out to rescue her once more. Will they succeed? New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. games. As in the original, players jump and run around, grabbing power-ups like the Super Mushroom and the Fire Flower, which lets them throw fireballs at their enemies. New power-ups have also been added – with the Propeller Hat, players can zoom vertically into the air and then glide back down, with the Ice Flower they can freeze their enemies into ice blocks, and the Penguin Suit gives them grip on ice and allows them to perform a belly slide. Yoshi from Super Mario World also makes a comeback – players can ride on him and he eats enemies and berries in the levels. The Wii Remote's tilt function is used to activate certain parts of the levels – for example, when jumping on certain platforms and tilting the Wii Remote, the platform tilts as well. In another level, players must use the Wii Remote to shine a light on a boat so they don't get lost in the dark. When the player shakes the Wii Remote whilst wearing the Propeller Hat, he flies straight up, whilst shaking it near objects picks them up or throws them. The game features a special function known as the "Super Guide": If a player dies a total of eight times in a level, a special block appears at the start of the level the next time. If the player hits this block, Luigi takes over and plays through the level, showing him how to complete it. This way, players can play through the game even if they have difficulty with a particularly challenging level. Up to four players can play simultaneously. As long as one person is on screen in a level, players can return to the game after their death by floating in a bubble that then pops. If all players lose their lives, they are sent back to the map screen. In another mode, Coin Battle, all players compete against each other, with the aim of collecting the most coins on the way to the goal. Less
