Mario Strikers Charged, the sequel to Super Mario Strikers, is a football game loosely based on official rules and featuring Nintendo icon Mario and his friends in leading roles. Each team consists of a team captain (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach and others), three buddies (from Koopa Troopas to Hammer Bros.) and a Kremling goalkeeper. In addition to the usual football moves, such as passing the ball or tackling another player, the team captains can perform Mega Strike shots that can be stopped by the opposing goalkeeper by aiming at the ball with the Wii Remote. During the game, the player receives items such as bananas or bombs to hinder the opponent. There are also unique character items for each team captain. Mario, for example, can temporarily transform into Super Mario to vanquish his opponents. The game offers various stadiums, each with its own environment, and several game modes. In Domination mode, up to four players (human or computer-controlled) can compete against each other in a custom number of rounds with a specific length. There is also a cup mode called "Road to the Striker Cup", in which the player and other teams compete against each other to win one of three cups. It is the first Wii game in Europe with an online multiplayer mode.
