Last Action Hero - SNES - EN

The 16-bit console version of the film licence Last Action Hero combines side-scrolling beat 'em up levels with driving sequences. The player controls action hero Jack Slater through four beat 'em up levels. The first two are inspired by the opening sequence of the film (the finale of "Jack Slater III"), the third by the hotel funeral in the film world and the last by the premiere of "Jack Slater IV" in the real world. Slater must reach the level exit before the timer or his energy runs out. Various thugs stand in his way and must be defeated through kicks or punches. The game features four different types of enemies carrying either knives, baseball bats, Molotov cocktails or guns. Depleted life energy can be replenished by collecting cinema tickets that sometimes fall from the sky. The Genesis version adds an additional twist in the first level: a crosshair follows Slater and randomly shoots bullets at him. With the exception of the first level, all levels end with a boss fight. Bosses include The Ripper, a helicopter and main villain Benedict. The driving sequences are also viewed from the side. Slater's car must avoid ramming parked cars and lorries on the road whilst trying to destroy enemy cars by jumping over a ramp and then landing on them. Between levels, cutscenes tell the film's story, which only loosely follows the original plot.
