Kwirk - Game Boy - DE

One of many different titles based on Steven Spielberg's 1993 dinosaur thriller. The version for NES and Game Boy is a top-down action game with exploration elements. The player assumes the role of Dr. Alan Grant and must work through six levels by completing certain objectives, including rescuing the children Tim and Lex, restoring power, destroying raptor nests and finally escaping the dinosaur-infested island. To progress in a level, a series of dinosaur eggs scattered across the area must be collected or destroyed. This unlocks a pass card, which grants access to buildings, or other items needed to complete the task. At the park's computer terminals you can get hints about where to go next. Of course, the levels are full of hostile dinosaurs. Dr. Grant can fend them off with his weapon. Several types of ammunition are available that differ in damage and shooting behaviour. Killed dinosaurs always drop the simplest ammunition type, the others must be found. In addition to ammunition clips, there are question mark crates that must be collected. These can contain useful power-ups, such as a health boost, but can also be dangerous and reveal a bomb. Some levels end with boss fights, including a Triceratops stampede and a battle against the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
