Journey into Mystery #122
Comic: Journey into Mystery #122Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: November 1965
Condition: Very Good, VG, 4.0
Journey into Mystery #122 with Thor in an exciting comic adventure from the 1960s. The story is by Stan Lee (script) and Jack Kirby (art). The comic is in used condition.
In the series Journey into Mystery, Marvel's legendary Norse god of thunder Thor made his first appearance in issue 83 (August 1962). From then on, he was the hero of the series through to issue #125. From issue 126 onwards, the series was renamed Thor instead of restarting at number 1. This was common practice at Marvel at the time for cost-saving reasons. For every new series, publishers had to apply for a new sales number/licence with the US Postal Service in order to benefit from the cheaper rate for printed matter. By simply changing the title and continuing the numbering, they could fool the postal service for a while and save money. This publishing policy still puzzles many collectors today who search for issue numbers of a series that don't actually exist ...
