Comic: Journey into Mystery #121Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: October 1965
Condition: Very Good, VG, 4.0
Journey into Mystery #121 with Thor in an exciting comic adventure from the 1960s. The story is by Stan Lee (script) and Jack Kirby (art). The comic is in a used condition.
In the series Journey into Mystery, Marvel's legendary Norse god of thunder Thor made his first appearance in issue 83 (August 1962). From then on, he was the series' hero in every issue up to #125. From issue 126 onwards, the series was renamed Thor instead of starting over at issue 1. At the time, this was common practice at Marvel for cost-saving reasons. For every new series, publishers had to obtain a new sales permit/licence from the US Postal Service in order to benefit from the cheaper rate for printed matter. By simply changing the title while continuing the numbering, they could fool the Postal Service for a while and save money. This publishing policy still puzzles many collectors today who search for non-existent issue numbers of a series ...
