The Hulk is one of the oldest superhero characters of the Marvel universe. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee created him in 1962 as a kind of tragic Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde character. Contaminated by an accident involving radioactive radiation, physicist Dr. Bruce Banner transforms (usually against his will) into a big green monster that everyone has known at the latest since the Marvel films: the Hulk. The series initially ran for 6 issues before being cancelled. A few years later, he was revived in the series Tales to Astonish, where he wreaked havoc from issue 60 onward. This comic series was renamed after #101 and became Incredible Hulk with #102. As a side note, one of the most famous Marvel superheroes made his first appearance in this series: Wolverine first showed up in October 1974 in Incredible Hulk #181.
