Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: April 1969
Condition: Very Good/Fine, VG/FN, 5.0
Incredible Hulk #114 brings back not one but two of Hulk's opponents at once: the Mandarin and the Sandman. The story comes from the seasoned team of Stan Lee (writer) and Herb Trimpe (artist). The issue is in used condition and has slight water damage at the bottom.
The Hulk is one of the oldest superhero characters in the Marvel Universe. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee created him in 1962 as a kind of tragic Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde character. Contaminated by an accident involving radioactive radiation, physicist Dr Bruce Banner transforms (usually involuntarily) into a huge green monster that everyone knows by now, at the latest thanks to the Marvel films: the Hulk. The series initially ran for 6 issues before being cancelled. A few years later he was revived in the Tales to Astonish series, where he wreaked havoc from issue 60 onwards. This comic series was renamed after #101 and became Incredible Hulk with #102. Incidentally, one of the most famous Marvel superheroes had his first appearance in this series: Wolverine first appeared in October 1974 in Incredible Hulk #181.
