Hopalong Cassidy's Western Magazine is a pulp, a magazine (approx. 17x22cm) printed on heavily wood-pulp-based paper, featuring western stories across around 160 pages, illustrated in black and white. Pulps were the standard entertainment literature in the US during the first half of the 20th century and later gave way to paperbacks, which took over their role. Pulps are still collected today as items for enthusiasts, either for their vividly coloured retro cover art or for their authors. This Winter 1951 issue features a cover by George Rozen, who also painted covers for the famous pulp hero The Shadow. The pulp is in good used condition.
