Description
FIFA Soccer 2005 is the third appearance of the football franchise on the Game Boy Advance. It brings many changes compared to its predecessor, with new modes, more teams, new control options and a new graphics engine. All leagues from the predecessor are back, with some additions: Brazil and Mexico as well as the lower-level leagues of England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. There are 12 teams from the "rest of the world" as well as 39 international teams. New game modes include friendly matches, Link Cable Multiplayer, league matches and several tournaments: Americas Club Championship, International Cup and Ladder Tournament. New additions are the domestic cups from 16 of the included leagues. The Career mode makes its first appearance on the GBA (having already been included in the console versions since FIFA 2004): in this mode, the player takes control of a single club for up to five seasons and takes the club to national and international heights. Each season has its own objectives that must be achieved. By fulfilling certain conditions in the matches played, the manager receives prestige points, which lead to a star rating that can be used to improve the team's performance. An exclusive feature not found in the console versions is Challenges. There are Comeback Challenges and Routine Challenges, each representing a specific situation from a real match and asking the player to recreate or improve on the real-world results. By completing all the given challenges, the custom challenge editor is unlocked, allowing the player to create any situation they want. The game uses a new 3D graphics engine that allows for variable camera perspectives. During normal gameplay, the top-down view is maintained similar to the previous games, but you can choose between three different zoom levels. For penalties, corner kicks and instant replays, the camera is positioned at the appropriate locations. The controls become more complex with the addition of the left shoulder button as a modifier, which in attack allows playing through balls and one-two passes, and in defence allows attacking the last man and the goalkeeper.
