Donkey Kong Country Returns - Nintendo Wii - DE

Donkey Kong Island awakens to an unusual roaring sound, the musical beat of a new source of evil called the Tikis. These unusual creatures enslave the animals of the island for their own food gathering, but to their misfortune, they have also plundered Donkey Kong's banana hoard! The King of Kong and his loyal buddy Diddy are angered by yet another act of greed and set out to reclaim the bananas and restore everything on the island to how it should be. The return of the Donkey Kong series contains many familiar elements from the original saga, combined with a variety of new features and gameplay improvements. DK is again the playable main character, while Diddy rides on his back in single-player mode and can be controlled by another player in multiplayer mode (thus replacing the old tag system). New additions include a peanut pop gun and jetpack for Diddy, new hidden items to collect in each level (the classic K-O-N-G letters plus new puzzle pieces), and upgrades for the Kongs that can be purchased in each world. And of course, no DKC game would be complete without the proven Mine Cart levels, which have been upgraded and given an additional speed boost. The Wii also enables elements of motion control. When you quickly move the remote and Nunchuk up and down, for example, Donkey Kong pounds the ground, revealing hidden items or breaking rocks and causing them to land beneath him. Other small tricks with motion control allow DK to quickly roll across the landscape or create a gust of wind to reveal even more secrets.
