ANNO: Create a New World - Nintendo Wii - EN

Dawn of Discovery is a Nintendo Wii and DS entry in the long-running German ANNO / A.D. strategy series and it is different from the Windows version. For the DS, it is the second title in the series on this platform, after 1701 A.D.: Dawn of Discovery. The classic gameplay has been retained but streamlined and adapted to make it more accessible for console versions. The story mode is set in 1404 and the player assumes the role of Prince William, one of the two sons of King George. The King's realm suffers from drought and famine. William and his brother Edward are sent out to discover new fertile areas in the south. On the journey, the player encounters a new and strange civilisation: the Orientals. The core of the game involves improving the production of goods and balancing taxes and maintenance costs. The player must provide his citizens with the required resources whilst spending money to expand his nation. Later in the game, he must also deal with other factions and pirates using economic or military means. On the Wii, the game is controlled primarily with the Wii Remote, with the Nunchuk also used for direct camera control. On the DS, the game is played almost exclusively with the touch pen, with buttons offering only shortcut functions. Story mode offers a gentle learning curve to help beginners understand the game. On the Wii, this is supported by voice output. Both versions are very similar in terms of story and features, apart from the different input control.
